Adventure Story

Our journey began upon the gentle swells of the sea, the salt air promising a fresh start for our band of adventurers. Upon our arrival in the bustling port of Valkengard, we were immediately tested. Cutthroats attempted to relieve us of our meager belongings, but we proved less vulnerable than we appeared, soundly defeating the would-be robbers before finding sanctuary at the Brick Mammoth inn.

Our stay at the inn was soon interrupted by the dark arts. One morning, the malevolent mage Zarkan launched a vicious attack upon our company. The ensuing battle was fierce, but we ultimately prevailed, ending Zarkan’s threat and securing the city’s favor. This victory granted us the legitimacy we needed; we secured our delving permits from Artinion and began to pick up the threads of local intrigue. We learned of Sutter Izen and the Graven Wolves, and heard whispers of the dark dealings in the Shahn black market involving Lord Emmotatch’s family.

After several days of preparation and essential supplies, our path led us to the Emperor’s Fancy, a gambling den of ill repute. In a high-stakes game of chance against Sutter Izen, we won the freedom of Lady Thora, Lord Emmotatch’s wife. However, the fate of his son remains a dark mystery, sold to unknown parties. Seeking further leads, we consulted with the informant known as the Gooch to track the missing Beavered Battleaxes expedition.

Venturing beyond the safety of Valkengard’s walls, we set forth into the untamed wilderness. Our journey north was marked by both mundane survival—hunting a great moose for provisions—and chilling discovery. We stumbled upon a barrow mound teeming with the restless dead, potentially the legendary Tomb of Morkaal. Overwhelmed by the sheer number of zombies, we were forced to make a tactical retreat.

Continuing north along the Austian Road, we encountered the Zecko Kobold Team inhabiting a network of catacombs. After a tense negotiation, we forged an alliance with their leader, the kobold wizard Zecko. They provided crucial intelligence: the outlaw Cyrus had fortified himself in a lone tower to the north (12,22). Joined by the kobold scout Glipto, we devised a cunning plan to infiltrate the tower under the guise of wine merchants.

The assault was a resounding success. Alongside our kobold allies, we breached the tower, captured Cyrus alive, and secured a valuable haul of saffron. While Zecko and his team claimed the tower as their own, we returned to Valkengard to deliver Cyrus to justice and claim our reward. Though rumors of rogue zombies continue to haunt the countryside, we kept our own findings quiet, preparing for the next chapter of our unfolding legend.
